“What do you think of this outreach script?”
The question implies that the key to riches is just a script tweak or two away.
And if your goal is to get a bunch of strangers throwing cash at you…
…asking “what should I say here”…
…is an unproductive question.
It’s like asking, “What’s the magic script that will always get me laid?”
There is no magic script that will always get someone laid.
There is no perfect outreach script, either.
Instead of focusing on some magic word combination….
…think about the strategy behind building real relationships.
You have to contribute. Add value.
And we don’t just build relationships randomly.
We are highly selective about choosing the right people.
Jamie Stenhouse calls this “building relationships at scale”. I haven’t found a better description.
If you show up to every new relationship with a narrowly disguised attempt to get the credit card…
…it will show in the message.
It will show in the kind of client it produces.
If you show up to every new relationship looking to add value and contribute and genuinely wondering who this new person is…
…it produces a very different kind of message.
It also produces a very different kind of client.
